Anzel Adams

His career started in 1927 when he created his first portfolio which made him about $3900. From there he was given various tasks to photograph the people who bought his portfolio. All of the pictures he took were in lac in white although he had tried and using color. The problem with color is he felt it didn't give the effect he wanted through the image. Such as in this photograph, since its in black and white there is more of a definition in the lighting and separates the picture into almost three sections. the clouds being the brightest and then the mountains a little lower in the picture and with not it as much light with the trees being closest and very dark. It shows how much more definition comes out of the picture then if it were color.A dramatically-lit black-and-white photograph depicts a large river, which snakes from the bottom right to the center left of the picture. Dark evergreen trees cover the steep left bank of the river, and lighter deciduous trees cover the right. In the top half of the frame, there is a tall mountain range, dark but clearly covered in snow. The sky is overcast in parts, but only partly cloudy in others, and the sun shines through to illuminate the scene and reflect off the river in these places.
